Sangria pitchers for under $10!

One of the best things about going out to eat, is ordering that amazing cocktail that you just can’t have one of.  I normally don’t order drinks when we go out so I can save on the bill.  Cocktails typically run you around $10 a pop, and that adds up a little too quickly for my credit card.  I have come up with 3 ridiculously addicting sangria recipes of my own that’ll only cost you $10 or less per pitcher! These are perfect for refreshments for a crowd if you want to maintain a budget, as an alternative to a pricey selection of liquor and always a hit, like if hosting a dinner party, wedding, or just a girl’s night in.

Sangria is a wine based cocktail with pieces of fresh sliced fruit served cold over ice. I first fell in love with sangria and trying to make my own versions while I was in Barcelona, Spain with some of my friends.  We had a pitcher of sangria with breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Every place has their own house recipe and it was wonderful being able to sample them all!

There is no right or wrong way to mix sangria, it’s a perfect drink to try for those who have never mixed a drink and are worried it might not taste right.  This is a throw it all in kind of drink and always comes out delicious.

The 3 recipes that I concocted, a red, white and blush, can, of course, be tweaked to your liking.  I use ginger ale, but if you don’t like the flavor of it, use soda water, or ever sprite.  Add more or less of the flavored syrups, use your favorite fruits, throw in some brandy….whatever! And since it’s mixed with soo much, you don’t have to buy the expensive bottles of wine, I use the cheap-o $5 bottles or whatever’s on sale.

Red Wine Sangria

  • 1 bottle of merlot
  • 2 cans of ginger ale
  • 2 handfulls of fresh blackberries
  • 1 jar of marashino cherries
  • 3 small limes cut into wheels
  • 1/3 cup monin blackberry syrup

White Wine Sangria

  • 1 bottle of reisling
  • 2 cans of ginger ale
  • 1 large peach cut into wheels or chunks
  • 1 large apple cut into wheels or chunks
  • 2 lemos cut into wheels
  • 1/3 cup monin peach syrup

Blush Sangria

  • 1 bottle of white zinfandel
  • 2 cans of ginger ale
  • 2 handfulls of fresh raspberries
  • 2 handfulls of sliced strawberries
  • 1 orange cut into wheels
  • 1/3 cup monin raspberry syrup

The procedure for all the sangria’s are the same.  cut up the fruit, mix it all together in a pitcher, add the wine, ginger ale, and flavored syrup. chill for at least 4 hours.  The longer it sits, the longer the fruits give off their juices and soak up the wine flavor.

If you try out my recipe’s, please let me know! I would love to hear some feedback on how you liked them, what you made them for, etc…!

The syrup’s that I use just happen to be on sale right now, a 50% off sale to be exact! Get a sampler pack with 5 different flavors, including the 3 needed for these recipes, for only $5.99 by clicking here! Not just for cocktails, use in teas hot or iced, soda’s, and even baking!

p.s. freeze them into popsicles, fruit and all, and they’re a GREAT hot day grown-up treat!
