look of the day: FNO BABY!

FASHION’S NIGHT OUT! I had THE BEST time this year as VIP fashion press at Neiman’s at La Cantera. I didn’t  have an outfit picked out until literally an hour or two before I had to be at the event.  On top of that “I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR!” girly fit moment my hubby had to listen to, there was also the, it’s 102 outside and I don’t want my face to melt, thing to think about.

The easy skinny jeans and blazer idea got thrown out the window because of the heat, so I went with my LBD!

You’re NEVER to under or over dressed in your LBD. With the intricate lace front and open back, it was the perfect amount of fun fashion! I grabbed my open toe cobalt booties with zipper detail and threw on just one accessory, my oversized silver jewel encrusted elephant ring, which my gayband (gay husband who oh so willingly, and to my hubbsters delight, takes his place at events like these) happened to wear too!

Topped off with my signature “asian ballerina” giant bun and I’m feeling oh so glamorous and ready to hit the red carpet!

Now I’m going to let you in on a little secret, my whole ensemble cost less than $50! Yup, 50, 5-0.  The dress (that everyone loved) was $25 at forever21, the shoes (that everyone loved) were $20 at charlotte russe, and so was the $2 ring (that everyone loved). I think I might have been the cheapest dressed there (and I don’t mean street corner cheap)!

champagne taste on a beer budget because remember…

champagne is delicious, gorgeous shoes are a must, family fun is important, but they piggy bank still has to be fed 😉

Fashion’s night out at Neiman’s!

Fact: Neiman Marcus knows style. The one here in San Antonio at La Cantera, might as well be my equivalent of fashion heaven. Dreamy displays, the best shoes, every accessory I want and Louis Vuitton; the perfect man. When they throw a party, forget it, it’s obviously THE place to be!

For fashion’s night out 2012, Neiman’s hosted one of their fashion soiree’s and I couldn’t find a thing to be disappointed about. Well, no, I take that back, I was severely upset that LV’s weren’t handed out in goody bags. Who do I speak to about that?

There was exquisite catering from some of SA’s best, servers equipped with silver trays laden with bite sized goodness, champagne, fashiontini’s (the signature cocktail of the night), free samples of new makeup products and perfumes, raffles, and a scavenger hunt.

For FNO I was fortunate enough to be fashion press for the show and event, which meant front row reserved seats for me!

with fellow blogger Gita of mimiandchichi.com

Two fashion shows (showcasing the same looks, for those who missed it the first time) told us of 4 of the upcoming, must-have trends.

  1. borrow from the boys
  2. navy, the new neutral
  3. digital prints
  4. mixed greens

This show was only the 2nd fashion show that I’ve sat down and watched as a spectator instead of walking in as a model, and I LOVED IT! The models were perfectly coiffed and styled, down to every intricate detail. It made me want to push one of them off the runway and step into their Louboutin shoe’d place!

That little sneak peak will have to hold you over. I’ll showcase each trend in it’s own blog loaded with pics from the runway and pieces inspired from the trends that will give you your champagne taste while maintaing your beer budget!
