DIY manicure of the week: scalloped edge

This scalloped line is easy easy to recreate yourself at home.

On a side note, I need to stock up on new nail polish colors. Any one want to keep me in stock? 😉 Have any good color suggestions?

look of the day: ready for my close up

While deciding what to wear for my TV segment on local morning new show, San Antonio Living, I realized that it was actually breezy and crisp outside; dare I say it? Sweater weather?

I LOVE fall weather and fall wardrobes, so I seized the opportunity to pull out a sweater dress.

I paired it with basic black leggings and black leather chain and stud embellished motorcycle boots.

I had a blast doing my TV segment and then went to a meeting with the editors of a publication I’m writing fashion/style pieces for.  Do you think the outfit was the right choice? Easy simple chic fashion?

Sweater dress from H&M, boots from Asos, elephant necklace from forever21 and basic black leggings found everywhere

easy breezy outfit idea

Here’s an outfit that I created as a part of a family photo shoot wardrobe ideas collection.  I love the colors, the easy flow of the dress and the feathered cuff! The shoes are Alexander McQueen and totally out of my price range, but the look of them is what I loved! And, know what? The dress is the cheapest item on the list at only $39!

Look of the day: out the door

While working on my giveaway yesterday morning hubster came to ask me if I’d like a cup of coffee to go for my morning facial. It wasn’t until then that I realized “oh crap” I only have 30 minutes until my appt. Still pajama clad, I had 5 minutes to get ready. Brush teeth, throw hair up in a knot, grab skinny jeans and pull on one of hubby’s wife beaters.

Proof that anything can become instantly fabulous and fashionable when you add your own style with accessories.

I grabbed my black leather Steve Madden ankle boots, Steve Madden kelly green pebbled leather purse and threw on my triple tusk necklace.

Complete with a pair of aviators to distract you from my lack of makeup, which is totally acceptable when getting a facial 😉

oh, and, of course I took a cup of coffee to go; when have I ever refused caffeine?

Fall Trend: Borrow from the boys

Showcased this past Thursday at Neiman Marcus’ fashion’s night out runway show were 4 of the upcoming trends for fall.  The first was borrowed from the boys.  It was all about menswear for women and how to make the pieces our own and accessorize and style to perfection without de-feminizing or taking away your shape.

Here are some of the runway looks…

and my favorite one of this collection…

now here are pieces that you can add to your closet to rock the look and that’ll fit into a beer budget.

forever 21 sheer collar shirt with neckerchief $22.80

forever 21 tuxedo stripe trousers  $22.80

Kirna Zabete for the shops at target navy and black blazer $49.99

Kirna Zabete for the shops at target tweed and faux leather dress $44.99

When showing off your style with this trend, make sure to the pieces fit well and are tailored to your body type. Keep it feminine with touches of sheer fabrics, lace or pastels, and always throw on a chunky piece of statement jewelry!
