San Antonio Fashion Week day 1

Now that San Antonio fashion week is all over and done with and my pieces are out, I can finally share them on my blog!

Were you aware that San Antonio has it’s very own fashion week? So many that I talk to have no idea. Started in 2009 and modeled after big name fashion weeks, like New York, San Antonio is striving to put itself on the fashion map with a week long celebration highlighting the unique and dedicated fashion community here in our Alamo City.

Parties, fundraisers, and runway shows featuring local designers and models, fill the schedule.

Monday October 22nd marked the official start of San Antonio fashion week with a red kickoff party at the Texas A&M University-San Antonio Educational & Cultural Arts Center, put on by fashion PR firm, Tony Harris Productions.

Fashion lovers in all shades of red walked the red carpet in their stilettoed feet or bow-tied necks and gathered around red tables with red raspberry vodka cocktails in hand. A D.J. kept the music going all night while guests snapped photo booth pictures, enjoyed some art and coveted the giveaway displays.

A pair of red Jimmy Choo’s, courtesy of Tony Harris Productions, were being raffled off, while giveaways from Sephora, Kenneth Cole, Godiva Chocolate, Dillards and more were gifted to lucky attendees.

To show how much the city supports the arts and fashion, special appearances were made by Representative Castro (as his brother Mayor Castro was unable to make his scheduled appearance) and Councilman Diego Bernal.  Acting as Mayor, Councilman Bernal read the San Antonio fashion week proclamation, commencing the event.

San Antonio fashion week is dedicated to helping provide a stage for all of the fashion community.  Help support your local talent by attending events, which are open to the public.  Check out fashionsa.org to see when and where events are taking place.

Check out the story in the Express News with a picture of me and friend Chris Cantoya.
