Show off your patriotic pride with Americans colors! My nail art features the stars & stripes along with a traditional 4th of July firework!

Head to your picnic, BBQ, firework watching, etc… in style!

Happy polishing!

DIY 4th of July shirts!

Know what you’re wearing for your 4th of July celebration tomorrow?

Thanks to my friend Tori over at the sTori book, I know what my minis are wearing!

Tori posted this DIY flag shirt tutorial on her blog the other day and I loved it from the start; I knew my craft loving minis would want to do this project.

Here’s what you’ll need (all purchased from hobby lobby)…

Make sure you have a big flat workspace.

Start by painting your child’s entire palm blue. Make sure you apply a generous amount!

Then have your child make a hand print on the upper left corner of the shirt for the start of your flag.

* Tip * help them press their fingers and palm fully down to ensure you get a great full hand print

Using your paintbrushes and white paint, start painting your stripes.

Finally, dot in some white “stars” on your blue handprint.

And there you have it, a fun DIY project!

My minis are very proud of their work and excited that they get to wear a creation of their own! Mini man even said he wants to write “Rayne 4th of July 2013” on the back of his and keep it forever!

We might even paint a few fireworks on it!

Happy 4th!!!

DIY Cat in the hat collage posters

I’ve been DIY crazed lately (check out my DIY jewelry display/storage)! I’ve been setting up home and, especially the minis’ playroom, has my creative juices flowing!

Yesterday I had such an idea floating around in my head and just had to get it out!

We had an extra copy of Dr. Seuss’ Cat in the Hat lying around and instead of trashing it, I decided to make some wall art to liven up the minis’ reading nook.

Using foam board from the dollar store, mod podge and the cut out pages from the book, I was able to make 2 1/2 collage posters.

Follow along to make your own!

Start by cutting out all the pages from your book.

Arrange them on your foam board as you like. I put my pages every which way to make it a little more fun.

Using your mod podge, paint a thin layer on the back of your page and glue it to the foam board. When your whole board is covered, set the pages by painting a thin layer over the top of the whole thing. Don’t worry, it goes on opaque, and you might worry that you’ve ruined the whole thing, but it’ll dry completely clear!

I nailed my posters right into the wall to fasten them.

Love it! And love that it’s so easy to personalize for your own minis!

Hope you try it. Happy crafting!

DIY manicure of the week: perfect petals

Nail stickers are the easiest way to get perfect nail art without any of the hard work and mess of DIY.

I used LA Colors flower & gem nail art stickers to achieve this weeks look.

I chose a gorgeous shimmery lilac base color called wisteria from Savina and randomly placed the flowers stickers where I liked.

Remember to top all your nail art, especially stickers, with a top coat to help give them that staying power! I love this weeks look and hope it lasts me through to next weeks DIY manicure.

Happy polishing!
